Date: 28.06.2020
Today in Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasis on using eco-friendly idols during Ganesh Chaturthi this year.
“Preparations would have began for Ganesh Chaturthi. Can we try this time to make eco-friendly Ganesh Idols and worship them? Can we forgo the worship of such idols, which after being immersed in rivers or ponds, become a hazard for the water the living organism in it? I firmly believe that you will responds to my call, “the Prime Minister said in his monthly address to the nation on “Mann ki Baat” radio programme.
Particular in Vadodara, This year many mandal have decided to worship 2-3 ft Eco Friendly idol due to covid 19 situations in Vadodara. Vadodara has a very large population of Marathi community and majority of them bring eco friendly idol’s at home of 1 to 2 ft but Sarvajanik Ganesh utsav are more to use POP idols which are less costlier than Mitti idols. This year there would be high demand of Eco Friendly idols for sure.
Due to Covid 19 situation many pandal’s are thinking of celebrating ganesh utsav in a simple way. This year we might not able to see Shreeji Aagman yatra or Visarjan yatra, we have already seen how Rathyatra has been celebrated in vadodara at Iskon Mandir compound with limited people.
Hope after the appeal of PM more and more Ganesh mandal join’s hand to save environment and bring eco friendly idols at home and in Sarvajanik pandal’s.
